Cove Boulevard Road Closure

Posted on August 10, 2018 at 4:17 PM by Eric Cottingham

For the week beginning Monday, August 13th, retaining wall construction will start at the causeway. Cove Boulevard will be completely closed between Royal Coachman Boulevard and the Cove Condominiums. The contractor has indicated that this closure will last up to four weeks. Traffic will be detoured via Summit Drive.

The new wall will allow for the widening of the roadway across the causeway, which will significantly increase the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists using that section of roadway. Summit County and Columbine Hills Concrete will work diligently to take advantage of any efficiencies available to limit the duration of this closure.

We thank you, as always, for your patience and caution when driving around and through the work zone. Please help to minimize the impact of the detour on the other parts of the Summit Cove neighborhood by obeying posted speed limits and driving carefully.

Roadway Prep and Start of Headwall Construction

Posted on August 3, 2018 at 2:33 PM by Julie Sutor

This week, crews have been preparing the roadway for the new layer of asphalt, from Whispering Pines Ranch Road to Royal Coachman. They have also started construction of a concrete headwall on the west side of Cove Boulevard, which necessitated lowering the water level in the pond. At the completion of this project, the water will be restored to its original level. This work requires a Construction Dewatering Permit and Construction Stormwater Discharge Permit, both of which we obtained from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. These permits require that we have solid plans to prevent contamination of waterways, per the Clean Water Act.

Next week, we will see the first layer of new pavement placed on the prepared section of roadway, and headwall construction will continue at the pond. Drivers will continue to see single-lane closures with flaggers. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this construction; please drive safely.

Phase 4 begins

Posted on July 27, 2018 at 12:15 PM by Julie Sutor

Phase 4 of the Summit Cove Loop Project began this week with establishment of a staging area on a vacant County-owned parcel. Environmental and erosion control measures are being placed to protect the adjacent native areas.

Next week, the road surface will be recycled and prepared for the new roadway platform. Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic, and they will do their best to minimize delays. This work will involve single-lane closures and occasional traffic stoppages. We recommend that residents avoid the construction zone (Cove Boulevard between Whispering Pines Ranch Road and Royal Coachman Boulevard) when practical, by using alternate routes.
