Evacuation Update, 5:16 p.m.

Posted on June 13, 2018 at 5:19 PM by Julie Sutor

Residents located in the evacuation area will be allowed temporary access to their homes this evening. Tonight, between 7:00 - 10:00 p.m., evacuated residents and guests can go the checkpoint at Twenty Grand and Ryan Gulch Road to check in and be allowed access to their homes with the understanding that they must leave by 10:00 p.m.

The Summit County Sheriff's Office in coordination with fire command will be maintaining both closure checkpoints throughout the night of Wednesday, June 13, 2018. The only location manned for you to check in for both Upper Wildernest and Mesa Cortina is at Twenty Grand and Ryan Gulch Road. Anyone entering the area must enter this checkpoint first and exit through this same checkpoint. We ask for your patience and cooperation while we process you through the checkpoint. Those attempting to enter this area will be required to show some form of verifying information that they live or are staying past the road closure. We will be evaluating the safety of opening the evacuation area early tomorrow, Thursday, June 14.
