SUMMIT COUNTY – Starting a small business in Summit County can be a rewarding career move, but the path to success has its fair share of challenges. So the Summit County Employment First office is organizing a free seminar on Tuesday, June 21, to help current and aspiring small businesses get acquainted with the many resources and programs available to assist them.

Presenters will include representatives from Northwest Colorado Small Business Development Center, Northwest Colorado Council of Governments, Summit County Chamber of Commerce, Denver Public Library, Colorado Workforce Center and leading local business professionals.

“In our office, we cross paths with a lot of existing and prospective small-business owners who aren’t familiar with the wealth of resources in our community designed just for them,” Summit County Employment First Coordinator Janet Wolfson said. “We’ve created this seminar to connect you with practical, useful tools and strategies that you can utilize right away to increase your business’s bottom line and get on a more direct path to meet your financial goals.”

Topics to be covered during the class include navigating health insurance, planning for growth, research tools for business trends, networking and outreach strategies, chamber membership benefits, business-education opportunities, co-work space and finance practices.

“Many of these resources are low-cost or free and available right here at your fingertips,” Wolfson said. “You have nothing to lose by harnessing them for your business, which in turn, supports our community at large. More-successful small businesses translate to a stronger local economy.”

The seminar will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, in the Miners Creek Room, Summit County Medical Office Building, Second Floor, 360 Peak One Drive, Frisco. The event is open to the public, but space is limited. RSVPs are required by 12 noon, Friday, June 17, to Janet Wolfson at or 970-668-9738.

Attendees will receive free breakfast provided by Abbey’s Coffee and free lunch from Which Wich. All attendees will be entered into a drawing for several prizes, including chamber mixer passes, a business networking lunch for five and a half-day pass to Elevate CoSpace.

For more information, visit, or call 970-668-9738.
